Time has gotten away and it has been a while since I last wrote, so I apologize. December & January where a blur do to our lack of attendance for SNOW DAYS!!! But thankfully the snow was gone just in time for all of our activities planned for FFA Week! On the 17th John R and myself turned in our SAE project books and did very well. While it was only my first year I didn't finish first in my division but I did end up second. John though is advancing on to the District 5 competition with his books that he has had for 3 years on green bean production. So as you can imagine, Ms. Thompson spent Monday judging record books while the rest of us got the classroom set up and ready for the rest of the week. On the 18th through the 21st we celebrated FFA week at LHS. Tuesday was "These boot are made for walking" day and we kicked off our green hand penny drive and our Harvest for hunger food drive. Wednesday was support your favorite tractor day, truck & atv competition day, and the teacher appreciation BBQ lunch. Then on Thursday we dressed like a farmer & hosted recruitment day at the junior high making ice cream in a bag. Then there was Friday, the busiest day of all, "Farm Day". During our annual "Farm Day" we hosted over 500 elementary students and allowed them to "drive" farm equipment and pet a wide array of animals. Just following FFA week on the 28th we help with the Ag in the classroom sponged event: Green Eggs and Ag at Central Christian Church. At Green Eggs and Ag we talked to 2nd graders from Bridgeport, St. Francisville, and Lawrenceville about topics that related agriculture to Dr. Suess books. Its been a busy month to say the least but now the FFA week and Green Eggs are wrapped up we have been fundraising like crazy and starting to plan our banquet which will be coming up before to long.
